2. Respond to at least 2 of the following questions. You may write out your answers, send them as an audio file, or send a video of you discussing your thoughts.
What were Dumbledore’s reason for leaving baby Harry at the Dursley’s? What do you think of his decision?
Come up with a word to describe the way the Dursley’s treat Harry. Use 3 examples to illustrate this.
Name a character from another book who has a similar background to Harry’s. Explain what they have in common.
Use a word or phrase to describe Uncle Vernon’s state of mind as more and more letters keep arriving.

1. Respond to this week’s Forum Discussion. Be sure to leave a reply to at least one other post.
Pick a Project: (Choose 1)
1. Family Portraits: Draw a portrait of Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and Dudley. Choose a quote for each one that you think sums up their personalities.
2. Extra! Extra! Record a newscast or write a news article describing the strange events that people notice taking place on the day the story begins.
3. Dear Diary: Choose one of the strange, inexplicable things that have happened to Harry while living with the Dursleys. Write a diary entry about it from the point of view of Harry or Mrs. Dursley, or write a dialogue between Mrs. Dursley and Mr. Dursley discussing the incident. (pgs. 24-25, 27-29)
4. Design Smeltings School: Using the information on pg. 32 and your imagination, create Smeltings School. What would its motto be? What kind of students would it accept? What kinds of courses would be offered? What would the headmaster and teachers be like? What rules and discipline would it have? Find a creative way to share this (make a brochure, record an advertisement for the school, make a picture of it, etc.)
5. Birthday Present Fails: On pg. 43, we learn that for Harry’s last birthday he received a coat hangar and a pair of Uncle Vernon’s old socks. Make a list of the presents you think he might have received for birthdays 2 – 9.
6. DYO (Design Your Own) Do you have a really good idea for a project or craft to go along with the reading? Go ahead and do it!
