Literature: Why Can’t You Make Them Behave, King George? by Jean Fritz
PICK-A-PROJECT: Choose one. Remember to be creative!
1. Just a Regular Kid: When George was a boy, what were some of the things he did that showed he was just an ordinary kid? You can draw and label a picture, write a paragraph, or film yourself as George…or anything else creative!
2. Call Me Dad: George decided that when he became king, he wanted to be a “father” to his people. How would he do that? Pretend you are King George explaining this to your people. You can tweet, post on facebook, conduct an interview with a King George puppet or actor…or anything else creative!
3. Here Comes the Bride: Princess Charlotte was just 16 when she agreed to marry King George. She didn’t live in England, didn’t speak English, and had never met George. Choose one of the activities below:
-
Using the description in the story, draw a picture of how you imagine Charlotte’s wedding dress.
-
Pretend to be Charlotte writing in her diary. As you prepare to go to England, what are you thinking and feeling?
Two Sides to Every Story: There is no work for this week.
See For Yourself
Check out the words from the actual Sugar Act. Read paragraph VI and locate the amount of the tax. You don’t have to read them all; just take a look!
